Biography

“I think of my work as an everlasting novel, with the first page filled and every other blank, patiently waiting for the viewer to complete the story.” Thus, Marcus, painter and sculptor, explained the importance of the viewer’s interaction with his work and why they play a crucial role in its discovery, as explained to Parkland Life Magazine in March 2005.

Marcus was born in 1981, in South Florida, where he spent his early days determined to become the artist he was meant to be. He left the warmth of Florida and continued his artistic endeavors at the Maryland Institute College of Art where his artistic vision solidified. In addition to his time spent in Baltimore, the artist traveled to the Middle East as well as Western and Eastern Europe, predominately honing his skills as many have before him in the South of France. Living in Aix-en-Provence, in the foothills of Cezanne’s picturesque mountain; Marcus followed in the tradition of his predecessors.

Because the artist’s inspiration comes from his surroundings and more importantly his dreams and memories, traveling has become an important role in the artist’s conception of new work. In many ways the work can be seen as a living journal.

Presently residing in South Florida, the artist has received much acclaim for this new vision in the art world.
